When to do the ‘japas’

The Indian vision was to create an environment where everyone gets equal opportunities for development and not that everybody is equal. There anybody and everybody can progress in life. That is why the schemes of sadhana were developed. The rishis who promulgated the same never imposed any restrictions as to when or where to perform the same. You can do it at any time which you feel convenient. That is the most auspicious time for you. That very moment when you can really experience Brahma within yourself is the most auspicious time for you. You drink water when you are thirsty. You eat food when you are hungry. This is exactly the case with ‘japa’ also. When you feel that you need to do the japas , do it. It has to be genuine and it should never become mechanical. Some people allot a particular time exclusively for doing ‘japa’. And after that they start doing the japa in that allotted time . This practice continues for a couple of days. After the third day, the japa turns out to be mechanical. They do not do it for achieving the divine grace They are only bothered about that specific time allotment and not about what they do. This is a kind of enshaklement. The very characteristic of spirituality is freedom. Then there is no meaning in losing that freedom, in the very name of freedom.

We need total freedom to the japas , as well as to refrain from the japas. Only when you have that kind of strength can you become a worldly person. Only a person who does these japas can have that inner strength. When you have that inner strength only, you will feel that you will never be affected by all the silly problems that come your way. In your heart of hearts the urge to spare yourself from all the obstacles, there, sadhana becomes indispensable. Paramount progress is possible only when there is a change in your brain. Hinduism does not merely visualize God as a mere power beyond worldliness, but as a systematic , methodic and orderly way of life. When you reach that order and harmony in life, no doubt there will be a change which is indispensable.
